The upcoming ICO Telegram promises to break records with a target fee of $ 1.2 billion. According to new data from bloomberg, the collection can be increased to $ 2 billion. The component of public sale is not planned to be launched until March, as noted by many media, including TechCrunch, but this did not stop unscrupulous individuals who took advantage of this opportunity to seize the funds of inexperienced investors.
News Telegram Open Network (TON), the ICO project Telegram, which first appeared in the last week of December 2017.
The expectation of investors was palpable. “Telegram is already a de facto communication channel for the global cryptocurrency and Blockchain community,” wrote Josh Constine and Mike butcher of TechCrunch. At the same time, the English and Russian versions of information brochures for investors, including accurate information around the ICO, were widely distributed via the Internet.
This has given potential scammers access to legitimate information, and numerous websites have emerged offering opportunities to invest in the project.
Gramtoken.io was the most famous fake website. The website, which is now offline, uses details extracted from the documents, including the project roadmap, team members, and more. Tracking the site suggests that the scammers were enriched by more than $ 5 million before it became known that they had nothing to do with Telegram ICO.
Currently, the website Gramtoken.io is disabled. From the rest of the known fakes Telegram ICO:
- ton-gram.io
- grampreico.com
- tgram.cc
these resources remain available on the network, Gramtoken.tech is offline, while a number of Facebook pages, including one for Gramtoken.io were removed after being caught cheating.
In addition, it is reported that some scammers have used mass distribution via email to offer fake investment opportunities in Telegram ICO
In the case of the Tangram website.io more than 70 people have invested more than $ 30,000 in Ethereum, according to the tracking of the proceeds to the wallet address associated with the website.
Scammers with Gramtoken.io used paid Facebook ads to attract new users.
In an e-mail to TechCrunch Telegram CEO Pavel Durov said that Gramtoken.io was not associated with his company.
A week earlier, when the first reports on the TON Telegram project appeared, Durov warned users that they should only rely on information from the official Telegram channel, but he did not give any further comments, except answers to one question on Twitter.
This is scam. Be careful.

It goes without saying that ICO investments are risky. Those who think about participation are often advised to conduct a preliminary analysis in a more balanced and thorough manner. And of course the company should actually announce the sale of tokens through its official channels.
The more bloated the project, the more likely that scammers will resort to phishing sites.
In some cases, these sites can even be displayed as better search results. Therefore, it is extremely important that investors carefully check details from several sources before participating in the sale of tokens.
